91: Supporting the Journey Part 2

91: Supporting the Journey Part 2

On February 19th, I sat down with 5 incredible mothers to discuss the joys and challenges of raising black boys and young men. Today’s episode ends with a mother asking the question, “What can I do in Wilkinsburg?”

She was speaking of the violence that was taking place in her community. No one at that gathering could have ever imagined that Wilkinsburg would make national news less than a month later whenever 6 people, including an unborn child were brutally murdered. A mother loss 3 children and a grandchild. Her 11 grandchildren lost parents.

I don’t know what else I can say other than teh famous quote by Mother Teresa which is this, “What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.” That belief is at the heart of what I do as a podcast host, blogger, educator and most importantly as a mother.

I urge you to listen to this episode of Mom Talk along with Part 1 and Part 3 once it’s released. Listen with an open mind, heart and eyes. It’s easy to get discouraged and be at a loss for what to do to make this world a better place, but Mother Teresa’s quote literally brings it all back home. We can do this, one home at a time....
