Fall fun favorites

I absolutely love this time of the year! Fall is the time to unwind and take in the beauty of the nature that surrounds us. The leaves are changing into various gorgeous shades of yellow, red, brown and orange. The air has a crisp, yet gentle feel to it. Indeed it is the perfect time to engage in some family fun activities that celebrate both nature and the family unit.

Here are my top 6 fall fun favorites (I just couldn't narrow it down to 5!):

1. Go to the farm. This country girl enjoys taking her little ladies to the farm, and so does her city boy of a husband! ;) We take in the fresh air, walk through hay mazes, go on hay rides, get a few treats at the bakery and the market, AND most importantly, we pick our family pumpkins to decorate for the season!

2. Fun with leaves. What better way to enjoy nature during the fall than to jump in and play with the gorgeous leaves?! This was one of my favorite things to do with my kindergarten students each year and now I have my own little ones to rustle in the leaves with!

3. Fall crafts. While I create crafts with my toddler all year long, fall crafts are so much fun! We use candy corn, candy pumpkins, real leaves, you name it! It's a great way to spend time together. No technology required!

4. Watch 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." I am a HUGE Peanuts fan, so we watch all of their holiday specials. "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is one of my childhood favorites and it's so special to share the cartoon and book with my little ones.

5. Everything pumpkin. This is the time of the year where it's OK to indulge in some sweet treats here and there. I bake my mom's famous pumpkin pie, sip on pumpkin spice lattes and fill the house with some pumpkin scents fromScentsy. It's fun to give my toddler a little taste of fall! Mommy knows how to share. ;)

6. Read fall books. Reading is one of my absolute favorite things to do, and my girls have a ball with me as I read fall stories to them. The stories I read to them include, "It's Pumpkin Day Mouse," "Fall," "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown," and more!

Whatever you do with your kiddos this season, be sure to fully be in the moment and treasure these special memories you're making with them. Stay warm and have fun! :)
