Bobbi & Whitney

In the midst of the fame and tragedies is a mother and a daughter....

As the media becomes flooded with the news of Bobbi Kristina passing away, all I can do is hold my two little girls tighter. All too often the public looks at celebrities as if they are aliens, but the truth of the matter is they are human beings, just like you and me, and there are universal themes in life regardless of how much notoriety you have and what tax bracket you fall under.

I remember the sheer joy and excitement that Whitney Houston expressed whenever she was pregnant with Bobbi Kristina. Some may have forgotten that Whitney endured several miscarriages before and after Bobbi Kristina's arrival into the world. Being a mother was a role that Whitney seemed to cherish above all of her other gifts she had been given in this life.

Anyone whose eyes have glanced upon pictures of the mother and daughter duo can easily see and feel the unconditional love that was shared and treasured between the two spirits. Perhaps many people can see and feel the same love between you and your children when looking at your family photos...

Whenever I first heard about Whitney Houston's death, I was both shocked and devastated. I simply adored her growing up and I was always cheering her own and praying for her well being throughout the years. I was definitely on team Whitney even whenever the media tried to dim her light. I was about 4 months pregnant with my first child whenever Whitney Houston died and my thoughts and prayers immediately went to Bobbi Kristina upon hearing the news of her tragic death. Although I was not a mother in the technical sense, I was indeed a daughter and could not imagine how Bobbi Kristina could move pass such pain and loss.

My friends, I don't think I've ever written such a spastic post, but it's so hard to find the words that adequately express the profound hurt I am feeling. This hurt has forced me to take a step back and count my blessings, which include my two daughters. Every breath we take is a gift. Every moment we spend with our children and other loved ones is a gift. Somehow in the hustle and bustle of life, we end up taking these gifts for granted, complaining about lack of sleep, lack of money, lack of time and so much more. If you and I do nothing else with the news of this mother and daughter leaving this earth, it is my deepest hope and prayer that we conscientiously make the decision to not just look at our children, but rather look into our children's eyes, thank God for using us as instruments in this gift of life and not take a moment for granted. Without love, life is an empty space. xoxoxo
