Last week, I captured a precious "sisters" moment from my daughters, and posted the picture on Facebook. A few minutes later, I was scrolling through my News Feed and came across one of the most touching celebrity kids photos I have ever seen! It was such a simple picture, yet it said so much. Famous actress, Nia Long, had taken a photo of her two boys with a caption that said, "You're never too old or too young to share.#brothers."
The picture served as a catalyst to a major "A-ha" moment for me. I immediately "shared" the photo and said, "Celebrity or everyday mom, these are the moments that bond us." Here were two mothers (one a celebrity with numerous hit movies under her belt, the other a work-from-home mom blogger and podcast host) who had both posted black and white pics of their children in moments that we wanted to hold on to forever. Wow! Indeed, motherhood is a sisterhood that is not limited by such menial things like money and fame. No matter what your zip code or socioeconomic background, we all share the same joys and challenges, fears and vulnerabilities and moments that we want to hold on to long past the days of diaper changes and potty training.
So, whenever you are tempted to judge a celebrity mom or the mom in your yoga class, please take a moment to pause and reflect on your own journey, knowing that the woman you just criticized is walking in a pair of shoes that look a lot like yours. Here are 5 celebrity pics that remind me MOTHERHOOD is a SISTERHOOD...
It's so easy for all moms to connect to these photos. In fact, I bet you probably have similar ones in your scrapbook or on your cell phone. ;) What's your favorite celebrity photo that reminds you motherhood is a sisterhood? I'd love for you to share. We have more in common than we think!
